A post shared by Darcy Miller (@darcymiller) on Jul 1, 2020 at 6:12am PDT View this post on Instagram When I was pregnant last year I often wondered what life with two 👩👦👦would be like. I worried about the BIG things, but I’ve come to realize that it’s actually the LITTLE things that in reality are the hardest. Running to the potty with a toddler while holding a baby in my other arm, taking one kid out of the car while not waking up the other one, getting everyone’s shoes on to get out of the house on time! . One of the hardest times in our day is trying to quietly nurse my baby to put him down for a nap while still watching my toddler. We tried out the new @pjlibrary podcast series, called “Have I Got a Story for You” and it is LOVELY! It’s calming and nice to listen to and it’s actually really cool to watch a preschooler sit still and just listen. I play it while I nurse and my older son loves listening (quietly!) to the stories. Mine still holds the iPad even though he just sees the cover art because it’s a special treat for him 😂 but you could listen in the car or anywhere you go. The stories are all updates on classic #Jewish folktales so that makes mama happy too. If you’re looking to try something special for #Shabbat bedtime tonight or carpool today I really recommend it! You can find the episodes for FREE on pjlibrary.com and the Apple podcast app! . How much fear about others getting “more” is born from a deeply ingrained sense that I don’t have enough or maybe that I am not enough? The essence of love in Judaism isn’t about loving God, but about loving ourselves so that we may in turn love others. “If I am not for myself, who will be for me? But if I am only for myself then what am I? / Im ein ani li, mi li? U'kh'she'ani le'atzmi, mah ani?” I think about this often when I hesitate to put on a swimsuit in front of my own family. Negative self talk is toxic and we banished it from our house, but in this time where the whole world is crying out for us to love our neighbors more I’m reminded of this quote and to start at home and love ourselves more too. Which is why you’ll always find me wearing the suit and showing my boys that all bodies thick or thin white or black are all made in the image of God, ‘betzelem Elohim’ A post shared by Marion - YOUTUBE Mama (@myjewishmommylife) on Jun 9, 2020 at 9:45am PDT View this post on Instagram Why not to use technology- built in Apple 🍏 Animoji - to enjoy Bible/ Tanakh reading 📖 with imagination?
